hello everyone, got a question about body painting, when i first started up again 2 years ago the local hobby shop told me to paint the body with ace hardware spray paint. so i did, painted it really cool took it to the track, crashed and paint chipped off it all over the place, so someone told me my pre body prep wasnt good, so i washed it with hot water and soap, threw on latex gloves so finger oils wouldnt ruin the paint, painted it, let it set drove it crashed on purpose really soft and paint came off again, is this because im using ace hardware paint instead of RC Car Spray Paint? if i send my body to a place and get a custom paintjob will i have the same issue with paint cracking? does anyone know of a local place in southern california or in the area that does nice rc paint jobs.? thanks

Zakk

There are at least a couple locals who race regularly at the track that i know of who paint bodies. Mike Curnell has painted a few bodies for me, all with excellent results. I also know Tim Hanson can paint a body for you too.

use lexan paint that are sold at the hobbyshops such as "pactra". other shops may carry the tamiya brand as well......many colors to choose from, and 1 can CAN shoot 2 bodies if you are not heavy on the finger.

non-lexan paint will crack.

enjoy.
