i know its a huge expense but i have seen roofs over areas the size of the track out in camarillo and moorpark on farms...not full buildings but steel roofs...what would it cost to put one over the track?...i think it would allow us to run in the rain...maybe some wood roofs over the pit tables...maybe a low cost revamp of the offroad area would be nice...i mean the initial cost yes but the little loss of revenue due to multiple weeks of rain outs would be worth it. this is just my 2 cents...feel free to flame me for the ridiculous idea.

I think the expense of doing that for what amounts to a handful of rainouts a year is probably going to make it cost-prohibitive. It's not just the cost of material and labor, but you also have to deal with the city codes, inspectors, all that stuff. And of course while the construction is going on, nobody can actually be using the track...cutting further into revenue for protection against rain that Southern California doesn't really see that much of, on an annual basis.

Just my two cents but I think if Jimmy was sweating the lost entries on rainy days that much, you would have seen these kinds of roofs installed a long time ago.

I agree I don't think it would be very cost effective because we normally only get a few days of rain a year. This year just happens to be the exception because of El Nino which we haven't seen for what 10 years, so the cost for a few extra weeks of racing every few years in my opinion isn't worth it. I just go down to WCRC when its raining. Just my 2 cents but very glad to go racing tonight!

i was throwing it out there as an idea in the future...i understand the expense and ccity codes and other issues...just a thought...and the steel roof building thing really not to expensive...its the assembly and setting the footings for the main legs and of course wiring in lights to the ceiling..maybe misting nozzles and fans for those 100 degree pluss summer days and nights Rolling Eyes
