|
|
| I am hoping to start racing May 2nd at Hot Rod Hobbies with my Blitz (since I can't control my 1/8th scale buggy enough yet, lol) but I'm not sure what I need to do to make it possible to run it in the spec class. From what I can tell I will have to run a Losi or Traxxas motor and based on the size that means I will also have to run a Losi or Traxxas speed controller. Is there any other way that is maybe a little cheaper? |

| You do not have to change the speed control, just the motor. |

| The Blitz speed controller (SC-15) is only good for 15 turn motors and up, both the Traxxas and Losi motors listed are 12 turn motors. Is there another class I could run with a stock Blitz where I would still have a chance or is a new motor and ESC going to be necessary? |

| Well then just call the shop and talk to Jimmy or Tim. They can clear this up much easier and quicker them me. |

| You are allowed to run the stock HPI motor. I ran it and it was enough power for the class. If you are new to offroad like me 3 turns on the motor winds will not make a difference. |

I got a Losi Strike for really really cheap ($75) off a guy last week that already had a Traxxas Velineon 3500 brushless motor and the VLX-3s ESC in it, along with other hop-ups, I don't want the Strike at all but I am going to take the motor and ESC and run it in my Blitz. Maybe its just cause I'm new to this stuff still but what class can I run that system in? I'll also have a better steering servo and Pro-line tires if that matters at all for the class.
I'm also wondering what class I'd be looking at for normal club racing stuff too. |

That's the equivalent of a 10.5 turn motor, I believe - so you'd have to run it in the Intermediate class at the club races...which is definitely not the right class for a new driver to be in. The club racing rules are posted on the racing page of the site, under the list of offered classes. That's how you can find out how to make your truck conform to the class you want to run in.
However, it seems like the "rookie" class is a run what you bring class these days, it's no longer "rookie stock" - so you might get away with running it there...I don't know. _________________ Kevin Deselms - Webmaster, Hot Rod Hobbies
