Why is it some guy are so mean out there racing the rookie race. The way I see it, if your that good and you dont like kids bumping you, then get out of rookie, you dont belong there anyways, with cheating cars. I keep having problems with the same two guys, if their not picking on me their picking on my son. I guess what I really wanted to know was is this kindof stuff really allowed? I've talked to a few of the guys at the track about it, but no one really seems to do anything about it. One of them even tried racing in my bf's class which is Int-SC, my BF was first and this guy was forth, but kept bashing him just cuz of the problems with me and my son in the rookie class. Happy to say my bf whoooooooped him...but is there anything else I can do? Their totally out for us. Any advice?

You should stop in to the shop when Jimmy is there and discuss your concerns. He can relay them to Notch or whoever happens to be running the race you're attending. Unfortunately there are always going to be bad sports out there, but the rookie class exists for learning the ropes and nobody should be surprised that the racers in this class do not have complete control over their cars yet. In fact, there are people racing non-rookie classes that don't have complete control over their vehicles, including short course and nitro.

Try not to let it bother you too much. I have found that the best drivers win consistently regardless of WHO is in the heat with them, they are not only good drivers but good DEFENSIVE drivers who have an awareness of what's happening around their car, and can avoid collisions. A lot of people (maybe most) don't know what it means to drive defensively or wait for a passing opportunity.

But if you feel like you're being mistreated at the track, definitely bring it up with the organizers...you're paying money to race, just like everyone else. You should be having a good time.

I would definitely take it up with Jimmy. He's always fair. I'm sure if there's something going on he will work it out. We are very lucky to have a track owner like him. He gets it. I have nothing to gain by saying anything nice about him either....as a matter of fact, he always seems to over charge me at the register! Anyway, nobody wants a hostile environment at the track. I can't speak for everybody but I, myself, race for fun and the last thing I want is any trouble at the track.

TomTom - Who are you and I don't think it's possible to overcharge someone at my register unless your looking for a discount. I charge the price on the item and nothing more? I'm confused....fill me in if I'm missing something?

I was just curious because I starter racing here a few races ago and i was told that to run rookie you had to be stock or atleast have the stock motor. I get killed especially down the straightaway and I walk around and hear my fellow Rookie competitors talk about the different motors theyre using. I even overheard someone say they were running brushless and still get to race. I understand they might have better batteries and stuff but they still shouldnt blow by me like Im standing still. I hope maybe somebody will enforce rules or make it fair so I dont have to waste money to miss the A main or quit racing all together. Im not here to whine, I just want to see everyone run on a level playing field. Sorry to anyone if i was talking about you, nothing personal i love the HRH Racing atmosphere and everyone thats a part of it.

The rookie class has become pretty "unregulated" since I was a rookie. Back then, there was no such thing as a short course truck and most people were still running brushed motors. Nowadays, every truck seems to ship in an RTR version with a different setup - brushed, brushless, fast, slow, etc... So the rookie class seems to have developed into more of a "run what you brung" class.

However, you shouldn't even worry about that, as a rookie. You should worry about driving under control, avoiding collisions and making mistakes, and I guarantee if you do that, the results in your lap times will be better than the guys rocketing around with Velineon systems in their trucks, who can't stay out of the pipes or off their lids. When you get to the point that you can make it around the track with control of the truck and are making few unprovoked errors, you can move out of rookie into one of the more "regulated" classes.
